Hydraulic Fitter – Specialised Components

Our client is a family business – but on a national scale.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented team player to join the Port Hedland workshop.  

The job is permanent – it is Monday to Friday with occasional overtime during the week. Weekends are not worked often and as a rule of thumb – but can not be completely ruled out.
This job offers security and no two days are the same – the work is diverse and services customers and their equipment across so many sectors – Mining, Utilities (water / gas) Rail Building and construction

The fitter must have an understanding of Hydraulic Principles. Hydraulic service and repair of small equipment tools that require pressurized oil/lubricant to drive mechanisms at over 10,000 PSI and upwards.

They must know hierarchy of controls for hydraulic servicing and read drawings and manuals that relate to this equipment. Circuit principles are important also.

This job requires a person who has a high ability to diagnose and determine mechanism failure and cause.  The ability to have customer interaction skills and a high level of communication is also highly regarded. 

Other duties : hose testing and assembly, pressure testing and calibration, machining lathing (minimal) , gear box , boring holes & hydraulic drills, determine recommended outputs of pistons and pull apart repairs. This will suit someone who is use to working on small micro plant.

Due to an increase in work demands, there is an urgent requirement for experienced Track Protection Officers to join our growing Rail Maintenance Team working at BHP

Track Force Protection Co-ordinator and Handsignallers

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for the following roles:

  • Track Force Protection Coordinator’s (TFPC) with either Level 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 qualifications
  • Handsignallers

We have multiple roles available working from various locations throughout the network.TFPC’s and Handsignallers will assist in a wide range of areas including track gang teams and weekend occupations. Providing operational needs are met, we will do our best to allocate shifts and rosters to your preference.TFPC’s and Handsignallers are fundamental to our business, ensuring strict adherence to the various Safe working systems, in accordance with the Rules and Operating Procedures and Supplementary Instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

Handsignaller

  • Handsignal rail traffic at a worksite or within a track possession.
  • Act as a handsignaller at a fixed signal, defective signal or level crossing

  
Track Force Protection Coordinator

  • Assess risks and identify the level of protection required
  • Ensure the correct and prompt signalling of trains according to the rules of the relevant Safe working system
  • Provide audible warning to works groups in the danger zone when using Lookout protection
  • Carry out emergency Safe working procedures as provided for in the Rules and Operating procedures, including the use of hand signals
  • Monitor road traffic and pedestrians at level crossings controlled from signal boxes through interlocked gates and boom barrier
  • Liaise with Infrastructure maintenance personnel regarding all aspects of signalling and communication

  
  
Qualification, skills and experience:

  • Strong communication skills in order to ensure the transmittal and the receiving of clear and concise messages in high pressure situations
  • Possess a valid Cat 1 medical, drivers’ licence, 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 Safe working qualification – Essential
